Rafal (@rafal_makes on X, formerly Twitter) shared his experience with Lemon Squeezy, a popular payment processor for indie developers. What started as a discovery of a missing $600 transaction escalated into a larger issue affecting multiple transactions.
Rafal found discrepancies in transaction reporting, refund processing, and customer support responsiveness. After developing a script to audit his account, he discovered up to 18 affected transactions, with potentially $1867 missing in the worst-case scenario.
Lemon Squeezy acknowledged the issue, explaining that while they collected and held the funds, they weren't aware that the transactions from PayPal had settled. They assured Rafal that the next payout cycle on August 14th would capture these settled transactions. The company cited PayPal's system limitations as the root cause and implemented a workaround to prevent future delays.
