A Reddit user, lead-indicator, shared their harrowing experience with Stripe on the platform. The user, who runs a lead generation company for home service businesses, had been using Stripe for over two years without issues.
The problems began when lead-indicator launched a new course on conversational AI with a business partner. They created a separate Stripe account for this venture, which was shut down after just three days due to "higher level of risk." Despite providing all requested information, Stripe refused further communication and withheld $5,000 in funds.
In an attempt to continue business operations, lead-indicator used their primary Stripe account for the new course payments. However, Stripe quickly shut down this account as well, now holding over $20,000. The company has refused to engage in meaningful dialogue or release the funds, leaving the business owner with no apparent recourse except potential legal action.
